SUMMARY:Crater Works- a Maker Space Open House Design Review
DESCRIPTION:Come and check out the plans for the new maker space in Central Point.\n\n\n\nWhat is a MakerSpace?\n\nMakerSpaces provide the tools and equipment required to design\, prototype and manufacture virtually anything-all under one roof. They typically include both traditional equipment and tools along with new technology like 3D printers\, digital fabrication\, and computer-aided design labs. The shared space allows individuals to create\, invent and learn in an environment that encourages collaboration and problem-solving. Most- MakerSpaces operate on a "membership model" (like a gym membership) and offer classes\, space to store projects\, and entrepreneurial assistance.\n\n\n\nWhile we know some of the basics (a woodshop\, a metal shop\, tool library\, CNC and computer area\, commercial kitchen\, electronics lab\, sewing machines and crafts)\, a design team will consult with experts to detail plans. Part of that process will include input from CTE educators\, local craftspeople\, local fabricators\, and artisans to determine the "most requested" tools and equipment in each area.
