Groundbreaking of the Fire Science Education and Classroom Building
Rogue Community College (RCC) and Fire District 3 (FD3) are set to break ground on a new Educational Center on Monday, August 27, 2018 at 4 p.m. The ceremony will be held at the Fire District 3 White City Campus located at 8383 Agate Road in White City.
RCC and FD3 have a long history of successful partnerships; “We are proud to have such a great partnership with RCC, and this building is just another example of how collaboration amongst entities is not only a win for workforce education but a win for the community as a whole” stated Robert Horton, Fire Chief for Fire District 3. The center will serve as a centralized location for affiliated fire and public safety organizations to host local and regional training, increase awareness of the RCC Fire Science program, attract new regional training opportunities, and strengthen the emergency services candidates within the community.
The new facility will be constructed on the southeast corner of FD3’s White City Campus. The primary design objectives of the building are to incorporate two classrooms that can be combined into one large meeting space where conferences (accommodating up to 150 occupants), meetings, and hands-on learning can occur. The building will also offer work space for RCC staff and the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) personnel.
