New Jackson County Justice Court Building
Groundbreaking Ceremony
MEDFORD, OREGON — Please join Jackson County for our Grand Opening Ceremony of the new Justice Court building. The ceremony is located at 4173 Hamrick Road, Central Point, on Thursday, May 5th, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and everyone is welcome.
Justice Court handles traffic tickets in Jackson County written by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, Oregon Department of Transportation Weighmaster, and tickets written by local police officers when they are outside their city’s jurisdictional borders. The Justice Court also provides Municipal Court services for the Cities of Central Point, Talent, and Shady Cove.
The new Jackson County Justice Court Building creates a work environment that is safer and more efficient. It will feature a 1,200 square foot courtroom, expanded clerk work areas, and upgraded technology for easier citizen access.
Justice of the Peace Joseph M. Charter is the current sitting Judge of the Jackson County Justice Court and is an elected official currently serving his second six year term.
“The Justice Court looks forward to working with the County, City, and local law enforcement in continuing to provide fair and efficient judicial services in our new location,” said Judge Joe Charter, Jackson County Justice of the Peace.
