JACKSON COUNTY LIBRARY SERVICES ANNOUNCES WINTER READS PROGRAM
Read, discover new programs, and win prizes December 1 through February 29
Medford, Oregon (November 8, 2019) — Jackson County Library Services (JCLS) invites people of all ages to participate in the Winter Reads program, which will take place Saturday, December 1 through Saturday, February 29 at all fifteen JCLS branch libraries. This fun program encourages the community to read and discover new library programs and services, with a prize drawing for completed entries.
“Winter is the perfect time to curl up with a book,” said Kari May, JCLS Director. “Reading not only improves thinking skills and concentration, it also has a positive effect on empathy and emotional intelligence. Even though it’s a solitary activity, it brings us together.”
Participants can pick up a Winter Reads reading log or bingo form at any JCLS library and earn bingo squares by completing reading challenges, such as reading a book recommended by a friend, set in Oregon, or based on a true story. Attending a library program, writing a book review, or listening to an audiobook will also earn bingo squares. Young children can participate by listening to books. Participants who complete five squares in a row, column, or on a diagonal can return their form to be entered in a drawing for prizes. Participants may also read five books of their choice and complete a reading log to be entered into the drawing.
