Southern Oregon Pub Talk
Southern Oregon Beer: A Pioneering History
Brawling German immigrants! Irrepressible women and hometown pride!
In the mid-19th century boomtown of Jacksonville, two pioneering brewers competed to quench the thirst of miners and ranchers, and when the railroad arrived in the 1880s, breweries began popping up in Jacksonville and elsewhere. At the October 1 First Tuesdays Pub Talk, presenting from his history book “Southern Oregon Beer: A Pioneering History,” Phil Busse traces the origins of brewing in the mid-19th century at the Four Daughters Irish Pub, 126 W. Main, Medford. First Tuesdays Pub Talks are free and begin at 7:00 p.m. Talks last about an hour, with ample time for questions and discussion afterwards.
